Ceremonial Mask

Hudoq ritual mask used during propitiatory ceremonies before sowing the rice to ward off malevolent influence and for asking the benediction of the rice plants, in order to get a rich harvest and assure the community’s prosperity. This mask presents the typical flat nose and the connecting arc to the wide mouth. This is rather particular as it is put in counter position with the vertical symmetry of the face, accentuated by the long double row of prominent teeth and the thick lips.
