Ceremonial Pole. Blontang

Top section of a ceremonial pole depicting a man sitting in squatting position and emerging from a lotus flower. The figure presents a proportioned linear body and a geometrical face with deep reliefs which add strong expressiveness to the sculpture. The basis, from which the body of the mythical water serpent arises as high relief, is in advanced state of degradation. It probably suffered damage from floods. The upper part is in good condition.
