Charm. Karuhei tatau

Wooden amulet showing a standing anthropomorph figure on a cylindrical basis. This kind of amulets, known as karuhei, were conceived after certain revelatory dreams. An evident oneiric concept marks the traits of the face, it depicts a dilatation of the free lineaments which have a tendency to flow together and blend in a fluid merge. The body, showing the left arm with the hooked hand, is decorated with elements of material culture, such as a rattan backpack.
