Pig Trap Charm. Tuntun
The tuntun is a measuring rod to determine the correct
height of a trip wire and of the strike of the blade of a
hunting spring trap, to kill pigs and deer. On its top a
divinity is sitting in squatting position.
During a particular ceremony, the tuntun was animated by
the represented deity who had the function to call the spirit of
the animal from the heavenly world to catch him in the trap. The
cylindrical body of the tuntun is tuned by a division
into three segments which soften the verticality of the stick
and accentuate the formal aspect.
